Of the many mind-twisting topics in the field of research of quantum physics, the one that captures my imagination the strongest is the notion of multiple parallel universes. More than just a fanciful notion, the math suggests, not only might other universes exist, but that they must exist. The math shows that they are a certainty. The Multiverse Series of paintings is the result of my contemplation of this idea. What does it look like when I exist in multiple universes at the same time? What happens if I encounter an alternate self?
The use of pigmented ground volcanic stone is the perfect medium for depicting the fading ins and outs of the veils of different realities. Because the sand from the rocks is dyed prior to the application to the canvas, colors are blended grain by grain rather than mixed as they would be in a painting. The fineness of the grains means that the pointillism dots are tiny, so all the specs of color exist simultaneously as they become new colors as you step back and dance with each other in exciting harmonies.
